Brief Bio:

Benjamin Scheick, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and currently serves as the Associate Chair in the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the Villanova School of Business. Dr. Scheick's teaching and research interests are focused on the intersection of  finance and real estate.

 

Professor Scheick's research has examined the impact of capital market access, investor sentiment, and geographic portfolio allocation strategies on the performance of both public and private commercial real estate assets. His research has been published in leading academic journals including Real Estate Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. In 2021, Dr. Scheick was recognized as one of the top 25 most productive real estate researchers for his contributions to the top 3 academic real estate journals.  

 

Professor Scheick has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as across Finance and Real Estate disciplines. He currently teaches a course on Real Estate Capital Markets, an undergraduate upper level elective for Finance and Real Estate students.  His work in the classroom recently earned him the Thomas J. Carmody Jr. Faculty Award for recognition of teaching that effectively combines theory and practice.

 

Dr. Scheick is an alumnus of Villanova University, having received a BS in Business Administration (Finance) and a BS in Economics. As an undergraduate student, Dr. Scheick was awarded the Bartley Medallion in Economics. After spending several years working with Navigant Consulting, Inc., Dr. Scheick went on to earn a Ph.D. in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Florida.  Prior to arriving at Villanova, Dr. Scheick was an Assistant Professor of Real Estate at the University of Georgia.
